The EAASM held a lunch debate in the European Parliament entitled “Managing healthcare costs: can patient safety be traded-off?”
The event addressed several issues of patient safety in the light of budget constraints in the healthcare sector during a discussion with the Members of the European Parliament and representatives of Pan-European organisations. It attracted over 25 people including a senior representative from DG Santé, MEPs, and their advisors, patient groups, the Industry trade sector.

The Falsified Medicines Directive's Common Logo promises to be a major step forward in the security of selling medicines at a distance and online. ASOP EU and its sister organisation's, ASOP Global and CSIP, will be fully supporting this initiative. To mark the launch of this support and the publication of ASOP EU position paper, ASOP Global, ASOP EU and CSIP have a series of planned meeting with DG SANTE, Health Attaches of EU Member States and directly with Member State officials who are responsible for the implementation of the Common Logo. These discussions are aptly timed, as the Common Logo must be implemented by July 2015.
